York d’Audubon appointed DCPS District Student Services Coordinator

Audubon Elementary School Principal Caleb York has been named the next Daviess County Public School District Student Services Coordinator, effective July 1.

York’s primary responsibilities will be to coordinate support services to schools, focusing on meeting the needs of the whole child (academic, emotional and social). York will work closely with Assistant Superintendent of Social Services, Amy Shutt, to meet the unique needs of each DCPS school when implementing Multi-Level Support Systems (MTSS).

York will also provide professional learning and coaching to DCPS teams, focusing on the behavioral, social and emotional health of all students.

York said he was excited to begin his new responsibilities and believes his solid background in classroom and administrative leadership has prepared him to serve all members of the DCPS District.

“My goal as an educator has always been to equip students with the tools and skills they need to be successful,” he said. “As I take this role, I look forward to supporting families, schools, administrators and school staff as we all work together to prepare students for success in the classroom and in life. “

York has been a Director at Audubon since 2014. Prior to that, he was Acting Director, Deputy Director and People Developer at Audubon. Previously, he also served as the DCPS District Achievement Gap Coordinator, helping schools address disparities in academic achievement between groups of students. Prior to joining DCPS in 2008, York taught at Estes Elementary School for eight years.

York graduated from Daviess County High School and received a BA from Western Kentucky University, an MA in Education, and a Degree I in Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. He holds a Specialist in Education degree from the University of Cumberlands, where he is currently working on a doctorate.

“Caleb York’s background and experience will be an invaluable addition to the District in this new role,” said Matt Robbins, DCPS Superintendent.

Shutt said she was excited to add York to the social services team.

“In this new role, Mr. York will focus on supporting our schools as we strive to meet the individual needs of our students,” she said. “Mr. York is a fully child-centered educator who is passionate about seeing each student be the best version of themselves. He will coordinate Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) and others. District teams who focus on meeting the behavioral and socio-emotional needs in our schools.With Mr. York’s administrative background, he will be an exceptional asset to our schools as they maximize resources to put children first .

Audubon Primary School’s School Decision-Making Council has scheduled a series of special meetings to begin the process of selecting principals.
