The reopening of restaurants, library and student services is announced

For 18 months, the most consistent signs of life on the UC Riverside campus have been spitting out nocturnal sprinklers.

It’s about to change. The campus is preparing for a full return to the fall term, for which classes begin September 23. Long shuttered dining rooms and cafes open, along with essential student services.

The progression of openings continued on Wednesday, when the Highlander One-Stop Shop opened to offer in-person assistance with matters related to undergraduate admissions, registration, financial aid and services. to student companies. The Well – which offers education and health promotion services to students – opened daily on Wednesday, although principal Devon Sakamoto said appointments would not be allowed until the start of the term. Sakamoto said a new appointment system will complement walk-in hours. Among other essentials, The Well will provide a COVID wellness kit upon request.

Student services under Campus Commercial Services which opened for in-person service on Wednesday included card services, courier services and the Highlander gas station, now located in the UCR Bookstore building. The bookstore will be extending its opening hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting September 7.

Scotty’s Market at the HUB opened on August 23, answering the call for an on-campus dining option. On Wednesday, Panda Express at the HUB opened, Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm Hospitality Services also opened its catering services.

On September 8, Chronic Tacos will open, followed by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on September 13; Habit Grill on September 15; North District Convenience Store Market and Glen Mor-Starbucks Market on September 17th; the Glasgow Residential Dining Room on September 18; Lothian Residential Dining and Savor at Glen Mor on September 19; and Ivan’s at Hinderaker Hall and Hibachi-San on September 20.

Robin Hungerford, senior manager of food and hospitality services, said that due to staff issues, the opening dates for the newly renovated barn and the Emerbees ‘pop-up’ restaurant – among other facilities – will be open. announced later.

The UCR Library is having open houses this week, with open house events remaining today and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Curbside book delivery ends on September 3. From September 7 to 19, the Rivera and Orbach science libraries will be open. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Longer hours of operation will begin on September 20.
